For me, a traditional wedding is a way to honor our family tradition. It’s provide an opportunity to pay homage to our cultural and religious heritage, and to carry on traditions from previous generations. Says Alhaji chief Audu the Marafa Hausawa of Lagos State and Ijora kingdom.
This statement was made by the groom’s father, Alhaji chief Audu the Marafa hausawa of Lagos State, in an exclusive INTERVIEW with Royal Circle Connect, on the occasion of (Fatihah) of his beloved first son Alhaji prince Umar Audu.
The Interview
I am Alhaji Audu Umaru The Marafa of Ijora – kingdom and Lagos State.
I remain a peacemaker as well as father to all Hausas in Lagos and its environs. I am a friend to everyone, I have no discrimination.
The groom of today is my biological son, my first son to be precise by name Umaru Audu, who is thirty three years old.
Don’t forget that my late father was also the Marafa of this community for over 30 years ago even as a young man he sent me errands, so my son Umaru is my carbon copy in character indeed, for he behave himself and also a very humble young man.
I have never regret having him as son, and I wish him well in his next level.
My advice of today is not for my son alone but for all young adults, both Muslim and Christian that: Your wife is your help mate not your slave, men should not compare women actitude to mens. Men should learn how to live with one another especially women, your wife for it is Allah that arrange marriage .
I sincerely appreciate all the dignitaries that honour my beloved son from the Royal fathers, The serikies, Imams, politicians, makertmen and women, my very good friend from the East, all my old school mates most especially from Cardoso.
Infact, this event is more or less the gathering of Nigerians; I mean ‘WAZOBIA’, as you can see.
We have the Igbos, Yorubas and the Hausas here and we are all dinning and winning together as one.
Unity is paramount for all Nigerians, because we are one! I am an Hausa man by origin but a Lagosian by birth for my placenta was buried here in Lagos, I live all my life in the midst of the Lagosians , Igbos and Yorubas, so if somebody fight any one of these tribes , the person is obviously fighting me, it must be one love .
It is a serious matter for me when I speak or joke in Yoruba dialect , it marvel some people, even our own beloved Otunba Gani Adam’s the Aare Onakankanfo, was confused if I am actually an Hausa man or a Yoruba when he heard me speak Yoruba dialect clearly.
I make a Parables/ Jokes like; ‘Iporoporo feranka baba denu, ara Ile eni kofenifun rere, imoran Ika ni tehikule ngba, kalenikaleni ni tookan Ile, kokoro to njefo, idi efo lowa
The high chief was so marvel at me and have to accept that I am indeed a Yoruba Hausa man.
But on a serious note, If Nigeria must advance we all must see ourselves as one, just as have always sees everyone as my brothers and sisters

Proceeding From The Wedding
The colourful wedding day ( Fatihah) of the beloved son of Alhaji chief Marafa of Lagos, was a sought after, Even as the both families of the couple in conjunction with the whole Hausawa’s in Lagos and its environs and the community leaders, gladly tie the nots of their beloved children Alhaji Umar Audu and Musuda Nasir.
The robust wedding Fatihah, which comes earlier on Saturday 27th January, 2024 after observing all the islamic traditional rites . At one of the largest mosque in Ijora kingdom.
The couple who had been taught various things that would be considered helpful in their new home.
And diverse prayers were observed for the both couples from the islamic clergymen present at occasion .
After which the dignitaries and guests proceeded to the the wedding reception which is called Walimah, at surulere Lagos . Guests and everyone present at the wedding where highly entertained with various traditional and conventional foods with diverse of drinks.
As the bride was being led to her husband’s house at the end of the day, according to the islamic tradition.
