Hon. Iretioluwa Margaret Ogunsola: A New Dawn for Apapa Iganmu.

 

Hon. Iretioluwa Margaret Ogunsola, affectionately known as “Arise and Shine,” was born on March 26, 1977, in Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria. Her early life was shaped by the vibrant community of Ijora Badia, where she was raised at No. 16, Church Street, Giwa area. Currently residing on Olodan Street, Oke-Oja in the Apapa Iganmu area, Ogunsola’s roots run deep in this locality, specifically in Ward A of Oke-Oja, where her family, the Ogede family, is well-known.

 

Growing up in a polygamous household, Ogunsola’s upbringing was characterized by strict discipline and constant oversight from her parents. Her father, an educator, owned Adeola Nursery and Primary School in Oke-Oja, Ijora-Badia, which played a significant role in her formative years. This environment instilled in her a profound respect for education and community service.

 

Ogunsola’s political journey has been marked by resilience and determination. Despite multiple attempts to secure a councillorship under the All Progressives Congress (APC) party—four campaigns in total—she has faced considerable challenges and setbacks.
